Project Overview
Located in a small community at the seaside, the project is deeply inspired by the richness of the local culture and nature. Viewing from far away, one can see the guesthouse integrated immersively with the surroundings as if it is a part of an organic ecological system. The overall color palette applied on the buildings appears to have a sense of warmth and luminosity. With white and gray, the designer manages to paint out the local identity through the design. Instead of saying that travelers gather together because of the buildings, it is better to say that being here allows them to connect to the environment. The design project is born naturally out of the idea. Entering this place, one can immediately forget about their worries, wandering freely within nature.

Project Brief
The interior design is minimalistic and neat with a comfortable light color palette. Travelers can enjoy the landscape with friends and family accompanied. Ingeniously applying all kinds of organic textures, the designer creates a multilayered vacation experience. The living room with wooden terrace and deck chair urges one to take a sunbath here with a small nap. The wooden vein of the gray flooring ensures the echo of nature in achromatic color palette.
Project Innovation/Need
Inspired firstly by the local oyster farming industry, the basic color of white represents the oyster shell. With each building and outdoor spaces such as a semi-open corridor, landscape patio, swimming pool, the overall traffic flow is connected and immersed with the environment. Inside the buildings, big floor-to-ceiling windows are applied to decorate the interior with the natural vista. Thus, starting from the visual perspective, the boundary is blurred. From the swimming pool, to the fish farm, then to the seaside nearby, the visual perception of the horizon is broadened. What is more, buildings are arranged with adequate distances, and the interior spaces are spacious. Considering the local summer sunshine hours, designers carefully calculate angles, relative locations, shadows between buildings. Travelers can thus enjoy a different experience of outdoor spaces.
Design Challenge
How frail our human beings are when confronted with nature. If one is always in a rush to separate themselves from the environment and surroundings, it will be a pity just as giving up the whole forest because of a flower. On the contrary, if we learn to coexist with the environment, we can be as free as a soaring seagull above the sea. The design project aims at creating an environment for travelers to immerse themselves in nature, without boundaries and worries, experiencing the most sincere and relaxing living.
Sustainability
In this project, considering the heat, the temperature difference and the higher salt content in air in the south, the designer applied green building coating to the exterior of the walls, which not only is weather-resistant and lower the damage from the salt in air, but also reduce the emission of toxic chemicals and is better for the air. Meanwhile, the large French windows of the buildings introduce sufficient natural light so that the use of artificial lightings can be reduced. As a result, the life span of the lightings can be prolonged, and the power waste can be minimized.
