The client wants to have a bright living space filled with wood elements. For this reason, the designer created a bright and clean Scandinavian minimalist style to meet the expectation of the client and enable the client to have a good quality of life and a warm home.

Project Brief

In order to provide good lighting, the designer used floor-to-ceiling glass in the center of the base to create a study room. Meanwhile, the designer also installed a narrow glass closet according to the client's preference. As the sunlight shines into the house, the bright atmosphere will extend from the study room to the whole house, immersing the softness of the light in the environment. At the same time, when the light shines on the wooden floor, it will present a warm and gentle atmosphere, further adding a beautiful atmosphere to life.

Project Innovation/Need

As the client had a high standard of wood selection, the designer took the concept and material into account, finally selected teak as the main material to create a unique space texture. On the other hand, the designer has planned the master bedroom's dressing room with great delicacy, so that can meet the client's expectations. Through a series of spatial configurations, as well as the uniqueness of the materials and colors, the designer fully demonstrated the importance of the quality of life, allowing the client's family to build a memory of a good life every day.

Design Challenge

One of the most challenging parts of this project is the hidden shoe cabinet at the entrance. Since it is specially created on the original layout, it not only increases the storage but also blocks the odor of shoes. In addition, the designer further added a mix of lacquer and wood doors to create a sense of warmth. The second is the glass partition of the study room. Since the designer selected large frameless and uncut glasses as the material and the building's elevator could not be transported, the windows of the living room were removed to transport the large glasses to the space by crane.

Sustainability

In this project, diatomaceous earth was used to cope with the humidity of Tamsui District. In addition, for the sake of health, the designer used non-toxic latex paint, non-formaldehyde panels, and non-formaldehyde materials with ventilation design to give the client's family the most comfortable living environment. Furthermore, the doors in this project are not been replaced with new ones, which not only reduces the waste of resources but also continues the good old memories of the client.
