Project Brief

The various functional units are allocated gradually according to the floors based on the future progressive needs, living habits and preferences of the house owner during the initial stage, including the commonly shared front yard garage, lounge, dining room and kitchen with a central island on the ground floor, as well as the private areas arranged for the floors starting from the second floor up, such as the comprehensive master’s bedroom taking up an entire floor, endowing the residence with leisurely and carefree order of life and healing power.

Project Innovation/Need

The lounge, the dining room and the kitchen with a central island are connected in an open space in a longitudinal direction, while the meal-preparation counter and coffee bar are planned along the wall in the dining area, with clean warm grey, white and cream colors as the foundation to fuse into an area with interactive and intimate flowing dim light. With the entrance as the border, the master bedroom on the second floor is divided into the sleeping area, the changing room and the shower on the left and the right, optimizing the living mode of no mutual interferences. The room has adopted gentle khaki and warm wood colors, as well as linear light belts to create a relaxed ambience; the vertical facets on both sides of the reading area by the foot of the bed are also presented with arcs, such that the classic design vocabulary is allowed to correspond with each other.

Design Challenge

The television wall continues with the grey-toned theme to complement the 3D arcs on both sides, where the one on the left has extended the volume to become a semi-transparent multi-functional partition screen for the staircase, thereby stabilizing the vision of looking directly into the staircase from the entrance, as well as creating a focus highlight for the transition from the lounge to the dining room; other than being a separating medium, storage and a display shelf, the front facet is also ingeniously integrated with an intercom, while the rails by the staircase are replaced with vertical black iron grids, allowing the field of visions for the public area to be more exquisite and open; there is also storage under the staircase.

Sustainability

The depth of field for the lounge is unveiled by the gentle and clear lighting, while a customized seating area by the window replaced mobile furniture, which is practical with storage without blocking the window views. The sofa back wall has adopted a warm grey color, with the rectangular columns on both sides finished with rounded arcs, the adequate vacancy together with pleasing warmth extended to present natural and vivid living household looks; the frames of the ceiling are painted white to accentuate the advantage of elevation, as well as allowing the space to breathe freely.
