Project Overview

This is an interior design project for the common area of a property development, where five residential buildings are connected. Because of the high temperature of the local climate, the designer carefully planned the configuration of each area to promote air circulation so that the interior is cool and comfortable even without air conditioning. Furthermore, due to the size of the site, the building was deliberately set back from the base to create a spacious tree-lined walkway. This not only offers the residents of the building a park-like green environment but creates a friendly neighborhood. Accordingly, more people will be attracted to the area, and the site's development will prosper and welcome a better future.

Project Brief

The building is divided into five blocks with two foyers, one in the south and one in the north. The designers have taken a break from conventional thinking and used the south hall with a broader entrance as a mail room. In comparison, the north hall, with a narrower entrance and exit, is the primary way for the residents to return home, allowing them to walk along the quiet path and enjoy the quiet time. Standing on the north side of the building, one will find the building is set back to create a larger space and a green belt environment with a pond, allowing the residents to wander in the greenery. Besides, the lobby on the north side is planned like a hotel lobby. The use of gray marble and teak wood texture as the primary spatial focus, combined with the design of large floor-to-ceiling windows, the natural scenery invoked into the room, creating a resort-like leisure atmosphere.

Project Need

Moving slowly to the open social hall, one will notice a relaxing space that can be used for various activities such as community exchange, meetings, and lectures. The large glass windows on both sides allow the light from outside to enter the room, making the space more spacious and brighter and bringing in a fresh and pleasant atmosphere. Leading to the children's playroom, light-colored wood grain material is laid on the floor with an artificial lawn, while the ceiling is drawn with the image of blue sky and white clouds, quietly echoing the outdoor landscape. In addition, the interior walls are equipped with several arched glass windows, adding a bit of childishness and enlivening the spatial imagery.

Design Challenge

Returning to the central corridor and walking inward, one will find a landscape painting that shows the beauty of oriental elegance. Along the way, we pass through the home classroom and the social hall of the independent mother's classroom. The study is defined by a curved glass wall, which allows light to flow freely and brighten the visual experience. The other multi-functional lounge is a reading room-like space with a freestanding layout and a complete kitchen, which is both quiet and active. The south hall mainly functions as a mail room, so there is no excessive seating and decorations, making the space simple and clean.

Sustainability

For this project, the designer adopts a retreating architectural design and creates a wide green belt environment and a shaded walkway so residents and neighbors can enjoy the greenery and improve the urban heat island effect through landscaping. The main space is designed with proper window openings, wood grilles, and convection to bring natural light into the room. At the same time, the breeze from nature can flow freely, allowing the space to be bathed in the natural conditioning of sunlight, air, and water. In addition, the combination of pool landscaping and the appropriate humidity and temperature adjustment allows the interior to feel fresh and comfortable even without air conditioning and air-conditioning, thus reducing electricity consumption and achieving the effect of energy saving and carbon reduction. Through the designer's comprehensive planning of the living pattern, in addition to the basic functional equipment, energy saving, privacy, noise, and a friendly environment are also emphasized so that the space design is not only an aesthetic presentation but also a space with environmental benefits such as human health, ecological health, human-based health, and global sustainability.
