Project Brief
In our frenetic age, we are sorely lacking direct contact with the natural environment. Exposure to nature contributes to our physical and emotional well-being. So, in this project, we tried to erase the boundaries between the internal state of a person and the outside world. The house is surrounded by an extensive garden, carefully designed to bloom all year round. The floor-to-ceiling windows afford stunning views, which turn into elements of the interior, start a visual dialogue with it and are echoed in the decorative motifs. Such as the floral ornaments of relief panels hand-carved from tufa that replicate the exterior elements. The harmony of architectural and interior choices creates a feeling of completeness.
The interior would not work without carefully planned lighting which creates a magical, mind-blowing atmosphere. The wow effect is achieved by the central chandelier made of Venetian glass, a work of art by Italian masters handing down their craft secrets through generations.
The originality and distinctiveness of the interior is coupled with it being practical, consistent and pure in an avant-garde manner. The planning solutions are made with the modern ideas of a comfortable life in mind, and the functionality of the design sets the tone for the whole project. The engineering solutions in the house make use of state-of-art technologies in ventilation, air conditioning, humification and heating. The Smart Home System is responsible for life sustenance while taking into account the personal preferences of every family member.
Project Innovation/Need
Keeping pace with technological advances, people are getting further and further away from their origins. The main idea of our project is to combine cutting-edge technologies with natural forms and materials.
The idea itself is not brand new. Many have strived and are striving to achieve harmony creating a timeless and functional design. In this project, we tried to accumulate all the previous experience of our colleagues enhancing it with fresh tailor-made solutions and innovative technologies. Such a result became feasible not only thanks to the project designers’ talents but also thanks to a long track record of working with leading world brands, awareness of modern trends and ability to bring out the best in a given space and reveal the beauty of rare materials. And that is the ALTER EGO’s strong suit.
Design Challenge
The compositional and conceptual centre of the villa is the huge lounge area, where we brought to life the customer’s cherished dream to unite all the family members, and, despite their age gaps and different interests, to let them spend time together. The planning idea allowed for cleverly setting up an imposing spacious hall of 400 sq.m with high ceilings, creating a feeling of purity and balance and filling it with light and air. This one space includes various zones for conversation and rest – a sofa set with a TV zone, a fireplace area, a dining room and a musical salon. The ornamental pattern on the bespoke “carpet” made of the rarest kinds of marble has become a visual centre of the house, the symbol of the family union.
The stone was in fact given a leading role in the beautiful interiors of the house. The rooms are finished with rare marble, granite, calcite and onyx individually selected at the best Italian quarries. One of the most unique features of the interior is the fireplace. This 6-metre-high art object is made of a single slab of marble with the use of innovative technologies of stone processing. Its décor looking like folds of marble “fabric” is inspired by classical sculptures of great Renaissance masters. The decorative effect is enhanced by the unusual texture of the marble with its grey background and white veins, which resemble a beautiful picture depicted by Nature.
Sustainability
Being one of the customer’s key demands, sustainability is at the core of this project. The villa is equipped with cutting-edge technologies to achieve net-zero emissions and minimal energy consumption. On-site water treatment is implemented to filter waste water while underground heat pumps are used for heating and cooling. Utilising natural materials for the interior our design team collaborated only with the manufacturers who use in their production woods from controlled and programmed cuts and extract stone in accordance with the Natural Stone Sustainability Standard.

This award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes and aesthetic presentation. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
