Project Overview

This is the 224 square meters residential. The original four-room layout was inconvenient for the couple to use. The master bedroom and guest room were retained, and the space of the other two rooms is changed into the shoe storage room and mini-bar so that more space is opened for the public area. To master the most appropriate proportion for each area and avoid the sense of a long and narrow layout through the walkway, an unobstructed block series was used to achieve a broad vision through the house.

Project Brief

This is a light color rendered hierarchical residential space; the paint color of the ceiling is lily-white; the wall paint, wallpaper, cabinet and stone material of the facade and ground are deliberately set to a deep color level, to let the white of different color levels present multiple textures through different materials, and the ceiling is designed with rhythmic ups and downs with vivid feeling, also modifying the girder. In the space, the fuzzy surface metal is used; on the decoration, there are titanium plated mirrors covering the beam, the rhythmic line along with the ceiling, etc.; on the structure, it applies the door frame and cabinet body structure, to present the fine texture with a metallic lustre.

Project Innovation/Need

The shape of the bar without corners leads the moving line into the dining room, continuing the open design technique. The study uses patterned glass and black glass to maintain concentration and privacy. The sliding door and the foldable door can expand flexibly, and the foldable door becomes the screen of the desk when it is closed.

Opening the door of the master bedroom, one can see the dressing room, and the moving line drives straightly; from the dressing area, and makeup area to the master bedroom bathroom, the path plan is according to the usage habit of the house owner, just like the wash basin and makeup table are at the same level, convenient for the makeup, cleaning and maintenance of the female owner.

The public area uses wallpaper, stone, metal, and light belts to set off the texture; the curved surface modelling of the ceiling and curvedly arranged sofa shapes the temperament of youthful grace in such a large space.

Design Challenge

For a home where only two people live, it is important that each functional area can have a more comfortable living scale, so it is more necessary to increase the interaction between areas through the design. With smooth moving lines and flexible open entrances and exits, the doors can be closed to protect privacy when the guests visit, and the area can be open for the couple to communicate with each other on ordinary days, maintaining the emotional intimacy of the two people.

Sustainability

In the long-shape space of one-sided daylighting, all functions are connected with a medial walkway, centralizing the storage blocks, giving more space to the living room and maintaining the transparent vision, which lets the sunshine enter further into the space resulting in less heating and lighting requirements, which could effectively save energy.
