Project Overview

The English architect Augustus W. N. Pugin, who is principally remembered for his pioneering role in the Gothic Revival style of architecture, once said, “In pure architecture, the smallest detail should have a meaning or serve a purpose. The design team has introduced the concept into the design of this architectural project, using a simple color scheme and detailed ingenuity to interpret a subtle and neat aesthetic. Given the proximity to the forest park and the future development of a mixed-use business model, the design team has blended the metropolitan lifestyle with the natural aesthetics to create a brand new and diversified urban landscape. With this initiative in mind, the design team has not only reversed the site’s original industrial image and turned this property into a glamorous apartment building where individuals aspire to reside, enjoy and settle down.

Project Brief

As far as the exterior of the building is concerned, the designer adopts a soft beige color as the main color scheme of the structure, with gray walls and black grilles to decorate it. Looking at the front side of the building, one will realize that the design team has changed the appearance of the two outer buildings and the central building, cleverly using vertical and horizontal presentation techniques to create a unique visual experience. During the nighttime, the beauty of the building is outlined by the warm yellow light lines, and a little blue light is added to it, just like the stars shining in the night sky.

Project Innovation/Need

The spatial planning of the building is done by reducing the building volume configuration, thus reducing the building shading rate and increasing the green space ecology. The building spacing is created to provide good indoor ventilation and lighting for each residence, as well as an excellent view of the landscape. Vegetation is planted on the landscaped terrace of each floor to realize vertical greenery, which enriches the expression of the building facade and echoes the surrounding ecological environment so that indoor life and the outdoor environment are surprisingly integrated. The top of the building is planned with curved lines of white stone bricks combined with the lines of black grilles to present an elegant image like a lira. On the first floor, many businesses and stores with great convenience and accessibility for the occupants.

Design Challenge

Proper residential planning includes the result of adequate light, flowing wind, and a suitable architectural layout. The combination of living function, residential quality, natural ecology, and other conditions, and the introduction of architectural aesthetics create a chapter of quality and comfortable urban lifestyle.

Sustainability

The project is planned based on the concept of green architecture, with a strong emphasis on creating a building that is energy-saving and a landscape with much greenery. The landscaping on the ground and roof levels, through the soil, vegetation, climate, and the planting of various shrubs and trees, creates a diverse ecological green space that provides shade and air conditioning. The building spacing is appropriate so that each residence has good natural ventilation. On top of that, a landscape balcony is provided on each floor for vertical greening. The deep recessed window design allows sunlight to enter the house while giving appropriate shading and reducing direct sunlight, thus providing sufficient light and comfortable indoor temperature and reducing the use of lighting and air conditioning to realize the idea of energy saving and carbon reduction. Most importantly, rainwater recycling pools and water-saving labels are installed to achieve environmental preservation. The project combines natural elements such as light, air, water, and plants with green building materials and technical methods to create a sustainable green building.
