Project Brief

The collision of classical and modern elements in the space design embodies the home owner’s attitudes towards life. The open kitchen and the living-dining room are connected to blur the spatial boundaries. As for hard decoration, the design is visually divided through the tones of colors so as to define multiple functions of the space. Some parts are made of elegant marble and are connected with the simplified ancient architecture in the form of stacked levels, leaving the space a sense of luxury. Meanwhile, the elegant and both fashionable soft furnishings display the exquisite personal taste, giving people an immersed visual feast via this simple and exquisite space.

Project Need

The innovation mainly shows in the following three aspects. First modern elements are added in the French style to enhance artistic and romantic sense. Second the staircase walls are carved with custom hand-made leather, which not only enhances the artistic atmosphere of the overall interior space but also reflects the unique and charming craftsmanship. Third an aerospace-grade standard elevator, instead of the popular normal one, is used to fit in the overall design while ensure safety.

Design Challenge

The biggest challenge lies in the restriction of floor heights. French style has a strict requirements for floor height and overall layout but the building of this project has a limited height. So materials uses and their sizes are quite important for reaching the most precise floor height. In addition, the French style is seemingly simple but actually complex in terms of style and design as it emphasizes a lot on material and decoration matching.

Sustainability

The design uses plenty of green materials, including wallpapers and art paint, and few woods to create a romantic French art space. Also most are sourced locally in a bid to reduce the carbon footprint.
