Project Overview
The client is a young makeup artist with a unique taste in color, and has precise requirements for ceiling, flooring, and bar colors. The gray, white, and wood grain tones are interwoven to form a calm modern style, outlining an elegant look. The living room and bar area become a large public area for gathering. The double-sided sofa provides guests with two scenes. The bar area combined with the lighting accentuates the core of the space. Moreover, a custom wine cabinet meets the needs of the client, bringing people together and accommodating a wide range of wines. On the other side, the corridor façade is clad in shaped grooved panels, grey mirrors, and light strips. The lines and light reflect each other, reducing the sense of spatial transformation of the hidden door of the second bedroom. People in the public area can hardly notice that a private room is close at hand. Dark glass mirrors are used on the façade and closet to create a magnified visual effect. The reflections have a mysterious ambiance, and the wood grain tones add a bright atmosphere.

Project Brief
The public area skillfully blends gray, white, and wood grain tones. The floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light with the brightly textured wood flooring. The materials are distinctive and complementary to each other, presenting modernity and elegance that alludes to the authority of the client's young age in taking a position in the professional field. The bar is the essence of the whole space. As a gathering place, the floor height and the cabinet lighting attract people's attention, which is both functional and aesthetic. Underneath the bar, a custom wine cabinet is created to allow the client to share her wine collection at any time. Meanwhile, guests can stroll freely between the bar and the sofa. The double-sided sofa can change orientation flexibility. The second bedroom does not have a window to the outside. Therefore, the design team eliminate the oppressive light fixtures and install indirect lighting to emphasize the space. The façade is a light-colored wood grille to add diversity. The kitchen has a white and bright country style with a kitchen island. The kitchen island has a lot of storage space and an IH stove on the countertop, which combines storage and cooking.
Project Need
Luxurious modern style with minimalist colors.
The project is a minimalist modern style. The design team uses black, white, and gray with sharp lines to draw the space. The façade with light, gray mirrors, and stylized gaps to form consistency. The bright layers and reflections of the gray mirrors make the public space look more spacious. At the same time, the wooden elements lighten the coldness of the dark colors to present a modern yet warm atmosphere, which is in line with the client's young age and professionalism.
The bar is the essence.
The design team first removes the façade of the room and transforms the space into a bar area to form two distinctive lounges, the living room, and the bar. The large countertop provides ample space for storage, and the custom wine cabinet and small sink form a functional area for socializing. As for the living room, the double-sided sofa connects the two areas, so guests can stay at the bar or sit on the soft sofa facing the bar. This unique view creates the third experience.
Design Challenge
The design team transforms one of the bedrooms into a bar. To comply with the building's renovation regulations and the client's requirements, the design team take many techniques to achieve the goal of planning the plumbing intake and drainage system. The bar area is covered with laminate flooring, and the corner flooring is particularly challenging. In addition, the design team uses the partition strip as the first step to take care of both aesthetics and functionality. Lastly, the custom wine cabinet is perfectly tailored to the client's requirements, and the bar is set at the perfect height.
Sustainability
Large windows are installed in the living room and bar area to maximize ventilation and light. This plan saves electricity for lighting during the day when there is plenty of daylight. In addition, the design team installs low power consumption ERV to provide fresh air and comfortable temperature. It is important to mention that the project uses calcium silicate boards that can be recycled. It has excellent fireproof and waterproof properties and can regulate moisture. Besides, it is 1/10th lighter than brick walls, reducing construction time and labor costs. In addition, the special wood veneer is mold resistant, antibacterial, and easy to clean, and its low formaldehyde is not harmful to the human body. In addition, polished quartz tiles have a low water absorption rate and good stain resistance, making them highly hard and durable building materials. The malleable artificial stone is resistant to moisture, acid, and high temperature. These two materials are all green building materials with sustainable value. Finally, special paints and latex paints are more flexible than wallpaper or wall coverings. The paint can be reused even before it is finished, so there are no excess corners or consumables. If there is a need for future renovation, it can be changed quickly without demolition work.
