Project Overview

The structure of this project is a symmetrical twin tower, with a gray and white color palette to exhibit a simple yet sharp style. Situated in the sunny city of Kaohsiung, the project is granted with a larger proportion of green field with setbacks around the buildings. With such design the bright sunshine can dance on the structure and a dapple of sunlight shifts throughout the day. This makes the project not only eco-friendly but also aesthetically pleasing.

Project Brief

One of the features of this project is its various recreational spaces, including the lounge room, the gym, and the multimedia studio. The wooden walls and storage cabinets are applied on the sides of the lounge room, setting up a cozy tone. The modern chandelier is a fun touch that brings fun to the room. Considering the rather smaller windows, the designer adds in some embedded lighting beside the chandelier to make sure the space is well-lit. Enormous windows are set in the gym for the body builders to enjoy the view and sunlight during their routine. The bar behind, on the other hand, is a social area for residents to hang out and know their neighbors better. The multimedia studio is equipped with all kinds of devices, such as a broad screen and surround, providing the best experience in both audio and visual. The lattice TV wall and the white sofa area form a contrast, which strikes a perfect visual balance.

Project Need

Upon entering the lobby, the light gray marble reflecting the sunlight warms the hearts. The sofa area with brown, white, and grey décors echoes the color palette of the space. On the other side is the reception counter, whose subtle stone vein and dark green color reinforce the sense of stability in the space. On top of that, the area is quite obvious in the lobby, so that the guests can get the help easily when in need.

Design Challenge

On top of the various common facilities, every unit has its own balcony where the residents can set up a little garden and raise the green index. Efforts are made on the ground level as well: the community square is expanded in order to lower the building coverage ratio, and therefore improve the living quality. The designers are not only designing for the space, but also designing for a better future. When development is not just about numbers and scales but about the people, it’s the designers’ mission to build a living space that can grow with time organically.

Sustainability

In order to achieve the purpose of being eco-friendly, the ground level is transformed into an open space for the neighbor by setbacks. The rather larger balcony offers the residents a better view and a means to green the house. With sufficient sunlight in the local environment, the house the consume less energy through the well-designed openings in the space. Enormous windows are set in the gym for the body builders to enjoy the view and sunlight during their routine. This project is hopefully forming a new trend of architecture in the region, encouraging more buildings to go green.
