Project Overview

Located in Qianzhen, Kaohsiung, this project stands tall in the sunny port city and overlooks the busy city. The name of the project, Fong, means a mountain peak in Chinese. It stands for the grand vision of the designer to set up a new standard for Taiwanese housing design. To solve the problem of inadequate parking space, the six underground floors are designed for the residents to park their vehicles. What’s more, there are 3 stories of public facilities to meet the residents’ need. The penthouse level, on the other hand, is designed to be a hanging garden, in which the residents can spend some time with each other and enjoy the wonderful view of the city.

Project Brief

The lobby is well-lit with natural light due to the glass gate and wall decorated with pale bronze glass. The hardware embedded forms a pattern of ear of wheat, symbolizing a fruitful life to come. The glamorous chandelier, which is the center piece of the lobby, resonates the classical design of the ceiling. Stone veins from the reception counter and the walls together build an ambience of elegance and luxury.

Project Need

The banquet hall can host not only feasts, but also some more chilling events with the lounge and the bar area. The sections are separated by screens and showcases which also add layers to the spacious room. The curvy ceiling design, French windows and the chandelier are similar to the lobby, extending the same style while aligning the aesthetics and atmosphere. In the multimedia studio, two enormous paintings along with the marble flooring and TV wall builds up the tension of grandness. The e-fireplace can help moderate indoor temperature as well as add some warm touches to the room.

Design Challenge

Following the lead of the neat outlines of the space, from the gorgeous background, through the light and elegant passage, smoothly and gracefully flow into the body, there ends with an open space and a rich city skyline at the top. As if a fascinating master craft that lingers in head, presenting the beauty of space, nature and design.

Sustainability

Sitting in the heart of the city, the designer achieves the goal of city beautification through greening the ground level and share the space with the neighborhood. The vertical columns not only establish a sense of grandness, but also cast shadows to the open space and therefore moderate the temperature. To elevates the quality of living environment, the designer also set a little garden on the penthouse, at which the residents can enjoy the nature without being bothered. With a layout of four units a floor, each unit can full enjoy sufficient sunlight while keeping the privacy. The windows are well-thought out as well, for the depth is the perfect design to let the lights in and isolates the heat.
