Project Overview

In an ideal world, we live in our dream houses at the best possible locations under the best conditions with minimal difficulty. Away from the modernization of society and overly attention-grabbing décor, the client yearns for an environment with minimal clutter and a comfortable space where harmony and tranquility clash. The rooms utilize large windows to redirect the flow of natural light, pulling nature’s essence inwards. The interior relies on basic materials to emphasize the client’s vision of a comfortable suburban home, avoiding unnecessary décor and thus maintaining a consonance look.

Project Brief

The project’s objective is to increase the value of the green scenery from the exterior while modifying the interior to polish up the quality of minimalism. The designer used rough textures of the cement flooring to amplify the aspect of natural materials while mimicking the marble-like randomness of patterns. The design without obstructive structures proved to be highly efficient, creating the sense of an expansive space. The interior combines the brilliant light-gray color tone with the gorgeous marble table tops and wood-grain furniture to replicate the modern style of comfortable homes.

Project Innovation/Need

Our client enjoys the sensation of reading, meditating, and doing yoga, and has three cats. The designer’s renovation solution included removing partitions in the public space. The decision opened up vast possibilities for recreational use due to the expanded area.

The desire for a smoother blend between the interior and the exterior’s greenery drove the designer to expand the originally unimpressive window into a wall-width window. The vastness of the window dramatically improved the lighting quality and the transition from indoor to outdoor, resulting in an enthralling sensation of peace.

Design Challenge

The client, a free-spirited, spontaneous person, requested that the dining space be positioned appropriately for weekend gatherings and get-togethers. Therefore, the designer arranged the room through clever furniture positioning and removing hindrances. This decision created an open view for the dining and kitchen area, making the entire premise highly flexible.

The designer installed lighting fixtures with lighting tracks to improve the ceiling's aesthetic. These tracks acted as cable-hiding features; as a result, an orderly soul and space collate eternally.

Sustainability

Buildings and structures in elevated environments tend to adhere to problems relating to high humidity. To counter this, the walls of this project needed to withstand the potential moisture infiltration, weakening the structural foundation and exacerbating the client’s health. The nation’s construction methods produce a high quantity of waste reused in this project—converting waste clay into a water-resistant, ultra-fine water-based powder with each micron level reaching close to nanometers. The material is porous, thus allowing the much-required air flow to counteract the humid environment.
