Project Brief

We use the theater as a curatorial planning method to transform the park's topography and seasonal climate into every aspect of our performance.

We have conceived how to combine the characteristics of the Bay region with the performance activities and the art of mechanical installations. From the heart, we will create an immersive experience plan that allows visitors to fully integrate the design.

A deeper understanding of the region's legendary stories and humanistic climate features, we use the music throughout the region and the overall activities to guide people into the theater episodes we have portrayed, and the blended environmental fragrances are drifted through natural, and the blended environmental fragrances are drifted through natural winds. Once again, it will lead visitors into a deeper sensory experience.

Finally, through the body art with strong tension and the art of color illusion, they will perform an amazing performance and let visitors experience the shock of the bay through their bodies and minds.

Project Innovation/Need

To convey our message and lead visitors on an enriching journey by combining artistic performances from several different fields, targeting visitors’ sense of smell, sight, hearing, body and mind. To allow visitors to have a wonderful experience at the Bay Light and Shadow Art Festival via an amazing performance created by the combined elements of the atmosphere, body art, color-changing lighting technology, and a tension-filled musical performance.

This collection of work, "The Legend of the Sea Dragon King" describes the water of Penghu in Taiwan, commonly known as the area of the Black Water Trench. Here, under the rushing tides, the creatures in the ocean are vibrant and filled with life. At the same time, there is also a new generation of marine dragon king overlords preparing to take over.

The "Sea Dragon King" exudes dazzling light, penetrating the depths of the sea. The "Glory of the Penghu" gives the world a glimpse of the splendor of the Sea Dragon King's castle and the grandeur of the surrounding ocean. But as time goes by, the global climate changes, bringing ever more environmental damage to the ocean. The Sea Dragon King must once again defend this underwater realm and therefore, a new chapter in the Legend of the Sea Dragon King shall begin.

Design Challenge

The bay is full of salt and humid air. The strong winds brought by the summer hurricane and the unstable ocean climate pose a great threat to the overall design. We must overcome the environmental defects and convert them into elements of each exhibition. Also, given the strong winds, we must effectively deal with the issue of how to hang the large interactive mechanical device. We should strive to let the exhibition and nature coexist as best as we can.

Sustainability

The structure used in this work is used in a recyclable way. Using a large amount of detachable materials, the structures can be easily disassembled and reassembled for subsequent exhibitions. Combining diverse artistic genres helps us to represent the ocean's environmental protection into the future. This work will be displayed in various regions around Taiwan. In this way, more and more people can appreciate the fascinating multimedia installations and become aware of the issues of the marine environment. Best of all, due to the sustainably developed structures, these works can continue to convey their message through the opportunity of a travelling exhibition.
